Mike Filsaime On How To Become A Great Internet Marketer

Here’s why you should never just jump on any old opportunity that comes your way:

A few months ago, I was approached by a very wealthy and successful business man. I did some work for with him previously and he was sufficiently impressed to ask me if I wanted to go into a lucrative joint venture (JV) with him. Of course I felt pretty flattered to be asked for a JV by such a successful person, but there was only one problem…

He wanted me to help him create new products for the automotive industry.

At first glance that doesn’t sound too bad, but if you know me, you’ll know that I know absolutely nothing about cars, not to even mention "automobiles”! If my car would break down in the middle of the road, I wouldn’t even bother opening the bonnet, because I know that if I touch something in there, I will just screw it up.

But it was a really good opportunity money wise. If I got into business with my wealthy friend, chances would have been pretty good that I would have made a good few buck…and then some!

So I had a dilemma - Should I get into a business that I know nothing about, and would care even less about? In other words, would I be willing to spend a significant amount of time on something that I’m not truly passionate about even if it has the potential to make me bucket loads of money?

After some serious thought, the answer I came to was "No”. I’m much better off sticking to what I’m truly passionate about and really focusing on that to make it a success for the long term.

Needless to say, my friend was really disappointed because he could really see an amazing vision of where this business of his could go. I could also see it, but I knew that if I were to get myself into it, my days of fulfillment and joy would likely be counted.

That’s essentially what Mike Filsaime, Internet Marketing Wizard, said during an interview I had with him a few months ago.

He talks about the need to really figure out what you’re truly passionate about and then to keep on hammering away at the same thing over the long term. Jim Collins from “Good to Great” calls it your "Hedgehog Concept" – it’s the intersection of three things:

1. What you’re truly passionate about
2. What you think you could become the best at in the world
3. What drives your economic engine – that is, your profit per “x”

According to Mike, sorting out your hedgehog concept is critical if you truly want to become successful as well as fulfilled in life.

I hope you enjoy watching this video. Over the next few weeks, months and hopefully years, I plan to ad many more of the same kind of videos on this website. So, if you enjoyed what you saw, please vote for me on YouTube and please remember to leave me some comments.

Also, if there is anything else you’d like to find out about being an Internet Marketing Wizard, I’ll try my best to answer your questions to the best of my ability.

To your hedgehog!
