Internet Marketing Success – Mike Filsaime Reveals How To Deal With It

Internet Marketing Success – Mike Filsaime Reveals How To Deal With It © Gideon Shalwick

I’m sure you’ve heard the expression:

“Success Breeds Success.”

But I’m not sure whether this is always the case…

You see, I think it depends on what kind of success it is, and whether the success was actually earned in the first place. Let’s look at some examples:

Success Story # 1:

A poor, lower class man wins the lottery. He’s rolling in the cash for the first four years or so, but then he realizes that it’s all gone after spending it unwisely, and that he’s in an even greater financial mess than he was before he won the lottery.

Was the success earned in this instance? Easy answer.

Success Story #2:

Walter works for 7 years in a row without much financial reward on his new software package for pharmaceutical companies. Finally he gets a ‘break” with some venture capital firms, gets enough money to fund his marketing plan, and wham, he’s an “overnight” millionaire. But it only took him 7 years of working late nights and very little sleep.

10 years down the track, Walter is still going strong, and has invested much of his money into other technology start ups with the knowledge he gained from his own company. He’s now one of the richest and most successful people in his region, and he gives regular talks on how he did it to professional organizations and universities.

How about this time? Was the success earned? Easy answer again.

I think what happens is that when success is not actually earned, it could very easily start playing games with your head. (Of course the above two examples are very general, but hey, I’m trying to make a point here!)

Not too long ago, there was this amazing rugby player (similar to American Grid Iron, but only much more physical!) in New Zealand. He was only 19 years old, but became one of the best players the world has ever seen. He was just naturally strong and very big, but because he didn’t know how to deal with his initial success, he soon “threw” it away and lost it for a while. It took him a long time again to regain credibility, and he never quite got to the same level again. Maybe its early days and he’ll still make a comeback, who knows!

But the point is that early success could be dangerous – unless of course you know how to appreciate it and how to deal with it properly.

For most internet marketers, success on the internet only seems to be like a dream. And with only about 5% of people actually making it on the internet, those dreams remain exactly that for most budding internet entrepreneurs – dreams.

If we look at all enduring and long term success though, it was preceded by a number of failures first. In a way, if you become too successful too quickly on the internet, it could be like winning the lottery in our first example above. You wouldn’t have developed the necessary mind tools to be able to deal properly with your newfound success, and before you know it, you could be worse off than before. I’m not sure why it needs to be that way.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all just be successful the first time and every time after that?

But then I would beg the question:

“Would you actually appreciate it?”

So, maybe it’s all been “set up” this way for a reason. Therefore, whenever you fail some time in the future, or if something you need to get done really seems insurmountable, just remember what you’ve read today – it’s all there for a reason – to help you appreciate success and to help you keep success! All you’ve gotta do is persist, like our friend Walter did…

Here’s to your success at Internet Marketing!
